The 2026 Nunavik Mining Workshop will be held from May 20 to 22 at the Kattitavik Town Hall in Kuujjuaq.
Wednesday May 20, 2026 11:15am - 11:45am EDT
Drawing on practical experience in remote mining environments, this presentation offers a clear-eyed perspective on the evolution of environmental practices and requirements in northern contexts.
What have we learned? Which approaches have proven most effective? Where do the main risks lie when working on complex, remote sites with limited work windows and high logistical costs?
We will present pragmatic strategies tailored to the realities of isolated sites, while emphasizing the central role of partnerships with local communities in project planning and execution — all with the objective of advancing best practices in environmental management and site restoration.
