Arctic geopolitics has become a central issue involving three levels of analysis. On a global scale, rivalries between Russia, the United States, and China are turning Inuit territory into a strategic chessboard, prompting communities in Nunavik to assert their legitimacy. At the continental level, the effects of climate change are bringing the populations of Greenland and Canada closer together, both economically and environmentally. In northern Quebec, the northward expansion of the extractive frontier raises questions about sustainable mining models and territorial governance. The communities of Nunavik are precisely the intersection of these three scales: guardians of a territory coveted on a global scale, the first witnesses to climate disruptions, and key players in a political negotiation whose terms remain to be defined.
